Weirdgirl Creations - Summer Art and Clay Workshops!
33 Kent Street, Barrington RI (401) 247-1397
2013 Camp Workshop Schedule/description:
Mon.–Thurs. 10am-noon. Perfect for long summer weekends & trips!
Or 10AM-1PM with extended day/pack a lunch, sketchbook provided for drawing/painting
The first 2 hours students work on a wet clay project and a paint on pottery project.
We break for a 20 minute lunch/snack and those who stay will then participate in drawing and painting until 1PM.
The Art By You at Weirdgirl Creations Pottery Studio is the best place for kids this summer!
Children will work in clay with various hand-building techniques.
Children who have been to our camps previously will build upon these skills to make more advanced projects!
Paint on bisque, clay, and kids will get on the potters wheel!
We have years of experience teaching art and working with children!
Send your kids to a fun, 4-day workshop, which will leave you with plenty of time for
beach days and weekend trips. We are a project-based camp.
Each student will have 4 glazed and fired paint on pottery (bisque projects and 3 glazed and fired wet clay projects (2 hand building and one wheeled vessel).
Each session runs Mon – Thurs from 10-noon. Cost: $150 per 4 day session includes 7 projects or $175 stay tile 1PM and includes sketchbook, drawing and painting (we call this extended day)
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to register/bal due first day of class.
Ages: Workshops are for children ages 4 and up. We divide the children up into groups by age if needed. Children work at their ability level and we have 2-3 instructors to help!
We will offer 2 TEEN ONLY weeks! One in July and one in August!
Projects change weekly. Some weeks we will paint a splatter design project-a tribute to Jackson Pollock. Paint your own pottery items include a mug, bowl, plate and free choice pottery piece! They will work with clay every day completing 3 fired clay pieces ranging from sculptural to functional including one made on the potters wheel! (Pottery projects change every year! New shapes for mugs, bowls, plates and free choice!)
If your child participates in more than one workshop per summer they will be upgraded to a larger free choice item! Projects change weekly so they will not repeat the same thing. We do repeat bubble glaze painting each week, but the colors change and it's always different. All clay projects change weekly and the student would make a vessel on the wheel with 2x the clay creating a larger bowl.
We offer an extended day program from 12-1 pm. Children can bring a lunch or light snack. We provide each student with a sketchbook and a variety of mediums will be explored. Students are encouraged to free draw as well as work on loosely based projects daily. We'll touch on fashion design, line drawings, cartooning, still life, shading, perspective, and landscapes.
A variety of mediums will be explored.
