We are looking for donations of any amount to help defray the costs associated with running the tournament. Each player donates $10 but the running costs always outweigh the fee we set. We try to keep the tournament affordable for the players and look to the community to help us make up the difference. FAB is For Anything But…alcohol, drugs or tobacco.
FAB was started in 2007 by a group of local high school students who were looking to do something positive after the tragic loss of fellow students due so underage drinking and substance use.
The teens were looking for a voice, not to say don’t drink and drive, not to say lets set up safe rides, but rather a voice to say it is not necessary to drink or use substances.
You will not become addicted to alcohol, drugs or cigarettes if you never try them.
It is entirely possible to go through life without using substances.
It is not “normal” to use substances.
The kids who drink, smoke and use drugs are not cool, they have just adopted that label and marketed themselves as such.
Strong teens make good choices, they choose not to use.
It is far easier not to use substances.
Teens can have a full, rich social life without alcohol, drugs or tobacco.
FAB works to raise awareness and aid in prevention of underage substance use.
We run substance free events throughout the year, and events are open to all towns.

Friday Night Hoops is offered every Friday night at the Bayside Y with FAB volunteer adult supervision, 5 on 5 elimination style basketball from 9-11PM. This is free to all, open to all towns, bring a team or come and play with others. We have about 45 players each week, a great substance free Friday night activity. This is our 4th year offering this activity from October-May.
From after school art enrichment, summer art camp, and Friday night hoops FAB touches the lives of so many students in a wide variety of ages. Our message is clear. Zero tolerance for substance use of any kind. We lead by example, we present positive role models with a clear and concise message. Do good things.
This will be the second year that we are running our 5 on 5 basketball tournament.
Our goal is to invite 16 teams to play elimination style basketball on Saturday April 20, 2013 at St. Andrews in Barrington RI.
The tournament cost us about $2300 last year, all of which was sponsored by FAB/Art by You at Weirdgirl Creations Pottery Studio of Barrington RI, St. Andrews School of Barrington RI, and Global Property Developers of Bridgewater MA, and Piezonnis of Barrington and Warren RI.
This year we are hoping to provide t-shirts to every player and trophies to the winner.
We are asking for donations in any amount to help us make this a reality.
Donations of any amount will allow your company to be listed in our program and a thank you in the newspaper.

St. Andrews has graciously offered us the gyms at no cost.
We are dealing with referee fees, trophies, 4 game balls, t-shirts and insurance binder for 1 day which will amount to 2,420.00
We are charging the players $10 each / pr $70 per team with a max. of 8 players per team) and we should gross $1120.00 player revenue leaving us to need to raise the additional $1,300.00
If we are ever lucky enough to raise additional money we will donate to Recovery Without Walls in Falmouth MA. We have had a personal relationship with this organization for years and have seen the positive results and many successes attributed to this not for profit.
